Quebec Square Attracts a Variety of Retail
Forest City adds 15 new stores to Stapleton retail center

Denver—Forest City announced today it has reached agreements with 15 retail stores that will bring a variety of products and services to the Quebec Square Retail Center at Stapleton, where the first store is scheduled to open in June of this year.

John Lehigh, chief operating officer for Forest City Stapleton, Inc., said the newest additions to the 740,000 square foot regional center include Doctors Vision Works, Subway Sandwiches, Mattress Factory, Bocaza, Great Clips, and Nail Gazebo, as well as One Hour Quality Cleaners, Party City, Famous Footwear, and Payless Shoes. Additional retailers in this latest round of announcements also include Arby's, McDonalds, Morgan Tire, International House of Pancakes, and Old Country Buffet.

“These retailers are enthusiastic about the opportunity to bring their products and services to the residents of the neighborhoods at Stapleton and the surrounding areas,” Mr. Lehigh said. “When they open their doors in the late summer and fall of this year, they will be a welcome addition to our mixed-use community now taking shape at Stapleton.”

The new Quebec Square retailers will be part of a lineup that already includes anchor stores Home Depot (scheduled to be the first to open in late June) Super Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club. Other retail commitments previously announced include Just For Feet, Borders Books, Office Depot, Linens N’ Things, and Vectra Bank. Mr. Lehigh said these latest announcements bring the total space leased or purchased at Quebec Square to approximately 588,000 square feet. He said that lease or purchase negotiations are currently underway for an additional 100,000 square feet.

Quebec Square is a regional retail center with easy access to interstate highways that include I-70 and I-270, but it also features unique pedestrian amenities designed to attract customers who walk from nearby neighborhoods and adjacent employers such as the United Air Lines Flight Training Center and the Quebec Street hotels that once served the former airport. Mr. Lehigh said Forest City’s placement of retail within convenient pedestrian access of employment centers and residential neighborhoods is a key characteristic of the mixed-use neighborhoods at Stapleton. When it is fully developed in 20 years, Stapleton is anticipated to have 12,000 homes and apartments affordably priced for a wide range of incomes, 30,000 residents, and 35,000 new jobs in 13 million square feet of commercial and retail development at the former airport.
