Cherry Creek Arts Festival

2005 Festival to feature 5,000-square-foot inflatable luminarium

DENVER – This year’s Cherry Creek Arts Festival is bringing to Denver a one-of-a-kind art installation entitled Architects of Air, presented by Forest City Stapleton, Inc. This vinyl, inflatable structure aptly called Amozozo, measures 75 feet wide, 150 feet long and 25 feet high, and guests can literally appreciate it from the inside out. Visitors can roam through its air-conditioned hallways and 60 plus triangular domes as natural light creates radiant visuals designed to invoke the senses.

Originally hailing from the UK, the Architects of Air structures have attracted more than one million visitors with stops on five continents, and will make its Colorado debut in July. “We are excited to be able to bring this unique piece of art to the Cherry Creek Arts Festival,” said Terry Adams, executive director of the Festival. “Once inside Architects of Air, visitors will experience art for the senses, both visually and aurally. Music plays throughout the structure to enhance the sensation of color, space and light.”

Located in the schoolyard of Bromwell Elementary on the corner of 4th Avenue and Josephine, Architects of Air will be open to the public July 2-4 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Festival’s only paid entry exhibit, admission is $3 per person or $10 for a family of five. Festival patrons can obtain a $1 off coupon with any retail purchase at the Festival. All proceeds will help fund the Cherry Creek Arts Festival’s year-round arts education and outreach programs.

“Artistic creativity is a vital component of any community, whether it be in Stapleton, Cherry Creek or anywhere else,” said Hank Baker, Stapleton senior vice president. “At Stapleton, we encourage unique artistic endeavors and are proud to sponsor the signature event of the Cherry Creek Arts Festival.”

Designer Alan Parkinson, who has been building luminaria since 1985, draws his inspiration from the beauty of light and color and the intrinsic creativity of various shapes and forms. He aims to continue his unique fusion of artful engineering and architecture by designing and building a new structure every year.
